Coalition Snow To Open First All Women’s Ski and Snowboard Resort

Coalition Snow recently partnered with Australian-based development company, the Majella Group, to turn Maine’s Saddleback Ski Area into the world’s first all-women’s ski and snowboard resort. The ski and snowboard brand took advantage of the opportunity after a leaked audio recording suggested the Majella Group had no intentions of reopening the currently defunct ski resort. Instead, they were purchasing the resort for the benefit of the EB-5 program which provides lawful permanent residence to immigrant investors according to a report by Powder Magazine.

“Typically ski resorts are a simmering vat of dude soup, but we saw the opportunity to create a mountain that catered to women and gender non-conforming humans. The folks at the Majella group get to live in America, and we get a resort that’s free from the testosterone fueled bro scene that dominates the ski industry. Everyone wins… except men,” said Coalition Snow CEO Jen Gurecki.

The resort, which will feature a female driven staff from the boardroom to the patrol room, will lead the way in an industry which has been male dominated since its inception.

“We’ve seen the snowsports industry take steps toward creating a more inclusive environment, but it’s not happening fast enough. We see a consistent lack of support and funding for female athletes and men still hold the majority of leadership positions in most companies and resorts,” said Gurecki.

However, some men have expressed outrage at the thought of something that didn’t include them.

“The owners of this resort pandered to the sexism typical of women. We want to know when men will get their own ski resort. We’ve had to compete with women on the slopes for far too long and it’s our turn to be recognized. It’s time to stand against reverse sexism,” said one man in an email.

Rumors suggest that Coalition Snow is considering allowing men at the resort, with an additional $0.70 per dollar tax on men’s ticket prices. An opening date had not been confirmed as of publishing this article.
