Coalition Snow + TREW Gear Present
No, you’re not hallucinating - that really is snow outside on the ground. Albeit just a slight dusting, it still means that Winter is coming and it’s time to get your mind, heart, and soul back into backcountry mode.
That's why we've teamed up with TREW Gear for our third season of Backcountry Beta, a virtual event series designed to help us refresh our backcountry knowledge, learn new safety skills, open our eyes to different perspectives, and build our confidence in the mountains.
Hope to see you the first Wednesday of every month this winter!
For the fifth installment of our Backcountry Beta Series in partnership with TREW Gear, we're going to discuss a topic that can seem daunting, multi-day trips. This session on March 8th is led by Coalition Snow Ambassador Betsey Peryea, an adaptive athlete with a full spinal fusion and a demyelinating nerve disease who spends her time skiing, climbing, hiking/backpacking, and training for her mountain goals.
Have you learned the hard way how crucial communication is while backcountry skiing/riding? Most people struggle with communication, so we need to put in the extra effort. Natasha Buffo brings the knowledge from seven years of community mental health tools to open our eyes and ears to the communication skills that can drastically improve comfort and safety while exploring the backcountry.
In our third session, Coalition Ambassadors Clancy Sindlinger and Madi McKinstry, both of whom bring years of experience as ski patrollers and backcountry guides, will discuss Backcountry etiquette, risk assessment + mitigation, and terrain management in more complex terrain
Winter is coming and it’s time to get your mind, heart, and soul back into backcountry mode. Our first event of the year will be led by Ginny White, a longtime TREW athlete, ski guide, and accredited snow forecaster. Ginny will be taking the reins and guiding us through how she preps for Winter.
Winter is here and many of us are switching out our hiking boots for skis and snowboards. That's why for our second installment of Backcountry Beta, we're teaming up with Ski Babes to learn how to tune up our bodies and minds for the season.
To access Backcountry Beta, you need to be a member of the Coalition Clubhouse, our virtual community designed to support women, non-binary, and other underrepresented genders who share a love of winter and a love of snow.
Once you're in the Clubhouse, look for Backcountry Beta in the navigation on the left (desktop) or under the hamburger in top left (mobile app). The course is free or you can opt to pay it forward with a subscription. All proceeds will benefit our mutual aid fund for Indigenous skiers and snowboarders.
Get ready to meet new friends and learn new skills with the encouraging support and constant camaraderie found within the Coalition Clubhouse community.
We've designed the Backcountry Beta to inspire, instruct, and engage. Whether you're a seasoned backcountry expert, interested in getting out there, or happy at your resort, there's something for everyone.
Everyone is as motivated as you are to learn in a safe and welcoming environment. In our intimate group setting you'll meet people near and far who could be your next ski bestie.
As you dive into the content and meet the community here in Backcountry Beta, you're on a path of strengthening your skills so that you feel more confident in the backcountry and beyond.
Every time you join a live session, you'll be added to our giveaway. At the end of the five sessions, we'll be giving two lucky people $250 gift cards to both Coalition Snow and TREW Gear.
Choose from a free plan, or opt to pay it forward. All proceeds from Backcountry Beta benefit our mutual aid fund for Indigenous skiers and snowboarders.
