A young gun on the Coalition Snow athlete team, Tarni Schott has been ripping up the slopes since year one. A member of the Squaw Valley Big Mountain team, Tarni has been competing on the IFSA circuit and as a high school freshman she's already shown she's in it to win it. We caught up with Tarni to learn more about her background.
My parents put me on skis when I was 1 and from that day on I would ski as much as possible. I knew I was hooked 2-years ago. It was my first year travelling to compete in the IFSA and our first competition was at Snowbird in Utah. The feeling I had inside while I was waiting for my run, that second right there I knew skiing was my passion.
I starting competing 2 years ago, I started to compete because I saw my brother competing and thought it looked fun so I tried it. My goal is to do my best in every competition and try best, try and go bigger off cliffs, and keep going above and beyond to make my technique better and better.
Who's got your back
My favorite memory is last year at championships in Whistler, I had just finished my comp run and I didn't do as well as I wanted to but my teammates were standing at the bottom still there to tell me how amazing I did. That was a moment I will never forget.
To the ladies who want to compete
I would say do it, it's so much fun, even if you don't do the best the community and vibes make it fun.
