Brittany Runs a Marathon

Johanna Under the Ice
Finnish freediver Johanna Nordblad holds the world record for a 50-meter dive under ice. She discovered her love for the sport through cold-water treatment while recovering from a downhill biking accident that almost took her leg. What lengths would you go to in order to ride a bicycle? Following a new generation of young Afghan women cyclists, AFGHAN CYCLES uses the bicycle to tell a story of women’s rights - human rights - and the struggles faced by Afghan women on a daily basis, from discrimination to abuse, to the oppressive silencing of their voices in all aspects of contemporary society. Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable
BETHANY HAMILTON: UNSTOPPABLE tells the story of surfer Bethany Hamilton, who at age 13 was out surfing when she was attacked by a 15-foot tiger shark, a run-in that cost Hamilton her left arm. Not only did Hamilton survive the attack--she was back on the competitive surfing circuit less than a year later. Martha & Niki
In 2010 Martha Nabwire and Niki Tsappos took part in the biggest international Street Dance Competition, Juste Debout in Paris. It was the first time ever two women became World Champions in Hip Hop. This film depicts their love of dance and each other, and documents a friendship put to the test. A 2017 WSFF community screening. Watch it here.
Love & Basketball
LOVE & BASKETBALL is a 2000 American romantic drama film starring Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps. The film tells the story of Quincy McCall (Epps) and Monica Wright (Lathan), two next-door neighbors in Los Angeles, California who are pursuing their basketball careers before eventually falling for each other.
